In the 2020 League Year, What is the Minimum Salary for a NFL Player?

Article 26 of the March 15, 2020 Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NFL and NFLPA governs salaries. In the 2020 League Year, the Paragraph 5 Salary of a player on a Club’s Active/Inactive list during the regular season must be at least the following amounts:

  • 0 (Zero) Credited Seasons: $610,000

  • 1 Credited Season: $675,000

  • 2 Credited Seasons: $750,000

  • 3 Credited Seasons: $825,000

  • 4 to 6 Credited Seasons: $910,000

  • 7+ Credited Seasons: $1,050,000

Credited Seasons is defined as follows: “a player shall earn one Credited Season for each season during which he was on, or should have been on, full pay status for a total of three or more regular season games, but which, irrespective of the player’s pay status, shall not include games for which this player was on: (i) the Exempt Commissioner Permission List; (ii) the Reserve PUP List as a result of a nonfootball injury; (iii) a Club’s Practice or Developmental Squad; or (iv) a Club’s Injured Reserve List.”

It should be noted that there are minimum salaries for players who are not on a Club’s Active/Inactive list (excluding the Practice Squad).
